First Pre-Natal Visit
I went to the doctor this morning for my first pre-natal exam. Darryl accompanied me to the Peachtree Women's Clinic where I had an appointment with Dr. H. Kit Howard. He was recommended to me by my counselor and we were both impressed with the clinic and the doctor. The clinic is next to Northside Hospital, and has seven doctors and five midwives. I will see Dr. Howard for my first few visits and will then be rotated through the other doctors so that I have a chance to meet everyone. There is always one doctor on call at the hospital, and I believe one midwife as well, and they will be the practitioners attending to me during labor and delivery. The doctor was very attentive and listened to all of our questions. The exam went well; he said I appear to be very healthy and everything looks normal. They took four vials of blood to run tests on immunities, diseases, blood count and type, and thyroid. He also took a couple of cultures during my pelvic exam. They even gave me a free tote/diaper bag full of samples, coupons and magazines! My current due date is October 21, and my next appoinment is scheduled for March 31.

Yippie! I'm so excited for you guys. Congratulations! I'm dealing with lots of mommies and babies in the early childhood music class this year, but I'll refrain from giving advice seeing as I'm not a mommy myself! Take care!
